Hi, I'm Allie, owner and licensed massage therapist at Studio A. It's my mission to make high-quality therapeutic bodywork that is trauma-informed accessible to everyone in Brownsburg and surrounding areas. I want to introduce bodywork to as many people as I can, especially those who have been through hard stuff--trauma, accidents, prolonged periods of stress/grief/anxiety, etc.--and those who carry the burden of chronic, ongoing pain that make life difficult or downright awful.
Because bodywork that integrates the mental and emotional with the physical aspects of a person can truly be life-changing. That is what I aim to do. It's what I'm trained in. And it's what I love. It is important to me that everyone who needs this kind of work has access to it. I intentionally keep my rates reasonable, plus I offer a sliding scale for those who express need.
Because excellent bodywork shouldn't just be for those with a lot of surplus income, and it shouldn't be reserved only for special occasions.

Services
After receiving my B.A. in International Studies from Taylor University and working abroad for 7 years, my family settled in Brownsburg in 2014 as we continued to grow our family.
Through life circumstances I was introduced to the world of "bodywork" and discovered the power of hands-on therapy to help bring deep healing to a person both emotionally and physically.
It was one of those rare, exciting moments when you suddenly land on a new part of your life calling.
I enrolled right away in massage school, and once I had my massage therapy license in hand, I continued my studies in what originally pulled me toward bodywork in the beginning, namely to help people heal from trauma, stress, and stuck emotional states.

I love working on bodies because the body doesn't lie; it gives an honest representation of what a person has been through.
Because while the conscious mind can only recall so much (and this is why talk therapy is so limited for stress reduction, trauma work, or emotional issues), our body remembers everything; it is literally the storehouse of the subconscious, and of one's life experiences that were significant or that impacted us in some way.
This story from the body is extremely useful to both me as the practitioner and also to the client, because as I tell back to them what I find, this helps the conscious brain catch up with the body/subconscious.

If you experience chronic pain or tension, either in a particular area or all over, this session is for you.
It is a combination of all of the modalities in which I hold training, based in large part on all that I have learned about the fascia.
The John F. Barnes' method of Myofascial Release (MFR) that I use is a highly effective and yet extremely gentle way of getting the fascia to "unwind" and release where it is tangled and tight.
What is fascia, you ask? Fascia is the "packing material" of the body; it is made up mostly of collagen and it surrounds every muscle in the body, as well as every bone, joint, organ, nerve, even every cell.

Integrated Floorwork Sessions take place on mats on the floor and involve a lot of being stretched and moved by the therapist.
The client stays fully clothed for this kind of session.
It is not intended to serve as a complete treatment for a client (these should be alternated with Holistic Manual Therapy sessions, which are more comprehensive), but it does gives us an opportunity to address particular areas of tension in the hips, pelvis, legs, and low back specifically.
These Integrated Floorwork Sessions take stretching to a whole new level yet are so gentle and do not involve pain.

Available as an optional add-on service to end your Holistic Manual Therapy sessions, Swedish Massage is simply fantastic at bringing on deep relaxation and calm.
And there's good science behind it; we know that massage stimulates the parasympathetic branch of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), which counters the effects of the ANS's sympathetic branch, from which fight/flight reactions arise.
When our system enters a parasympathetically-dominated state, we are able to relax and unwind, and give our system a break from feeling the full weight of whatever stress we're carrying around.
