The Clearing Wellness Center is located in Northeast Portland, Oregon, and offers the full spectrum of Traditional Chinese Medical treatments, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping/gua sha, massage, and dietary counseling. We opened our doors in 2010 and are proud to offer highest quality medical care to the Portland community. In the 1830's and 40's, the place where Portland now stands was known to the settlers and trappers of the Oregon Country as "The Clearing".
By the 1850 census, the town (then officially known as Portland) was the largest settlement in the Pacific Northwest, with 821 residents. The unique geography of the area allowed passage of ships that could not navigate to older towns nearby, and quickly made Portland the important commercial and cultural center that we know and love. We hope that by creating a space in your life for health and balance, you will see the effects grow in a similarly impressive way.

Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese Medicine, which dates back at least 5000 years.
It is based on the theory that health and life are sustained by Qi or bioelectric energy, which flows through the body along channels or meridians.
Disease, discomfort and pain occur when the movement of Qi is blocked, deficient, or otherwise unbalanced.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine sterile stainless steel needles into points along these channels, and serves to restore the proper and open flow of Qi.

For your first appointment at The Clearing, please bring your insurance information and a list of current prescriptions.
If you have had recent blood or lab work, bringing in a copy of the results is encouraged.
Acupuncture appointments generally last one hour - however your first appointment will be scheduled for 90 minutes, to allow more time to discuss your health history.
Make sure you have eaten something prior to your appointment, but try not to eat a large meal immediately before coming in.
