While cosmetology has traditionally been taught using an hourly based format, IBS has been a pioneer in promoting the newer and more innovative competency based program in Oregon.
A competency program allows a student to progress through the system based on performance over a series of written tests designed to evaluate a student's grasp of theory as well as practical exams to assess skill levels.
Our school is not based on attendance of a set number of hours, rather, performance is our measure of progress.

Our primary goal is to establish a solid base of education and experience, this helps equip students with the essential tools to launch a successful career, as well as pass the state exams.

There are several financing options a student may choose.
The first option is an interest free in house plan in which IBS carries the tuition over the course of instruction.
Students are required to have paid the application fee, registration fee, and deposit of $900 by the General Orientation.
Beyond this, students must maintain a minimum monthly fee of $300 while enrolled and the balance of any unpaid amounts shall be due by graduation.
The second option is a personal loan through a credit union, bank, or other lending institution.
