Ann Arbor Massage & Yoga Therapy
Our approach is informed by medical massage (traumatic brain injury) orthopedic massage (treating chronic and acute injuries), Ayurvedic and Thai massage ("lazy man's yoga"), Swedish Massage and more. Our approach to yoga is highly individualized. We focus on good biomechanical alignment and yoga for your body-type (ayurvedic dosha). We study the benefits that current medical research finds, while also deeply honoring the wisdom of ancient ayurvedic and yogic knowledge.

Our 200-hr teacher training introduces beginner and advanced students alike to the practices of classical hatha yoga, ayurvedic vinyasa yoga, anatomically-informed structural assessment, mindfulness meditation, and more. Students in our course study anatomy, yoga philosophy, yoga history, and get support and practice teaching yoga. We offer private yoga therapy and massage services on the east side of Ann Arbor, at 2020 Hogback rd.

We started the business* in early 2017 to integrate our therapeutic practices; Massage, Yoga Therapy, and Yoga Teaching.
Services
As the Yoga anatomy teacher for the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, she specializes in an embodied approach.
Her interest has led her to study self-myofascial release using balls, foam rollers, and other tools.
Her methodology in teaching anatomy focuses on an embodied experience of how fascia, bones, muscles and the nervous system work together in yoga postures, injuries, and movement patterns.
Miriam has a focus on women's health; for fertility, pregnancy, postnatal recovery, menopause, and especially throughout a woman's menstruating years.
This year has been marked by genuine upheaval, stress, and worry.
Our world seems to be going crazy, and the need for practices that ground our minds in the present moment, and soothes our frazzled nerves are needed more than ever.
You're ready for it, we're ready for it.
You're also probably ready to let go of any practices, teachers, and organizations that espouse taking leave of your own intuition, body wisdom, and common sense in the name of "Yoga".
Perhaps market driven "Yoga", that is devoid of the larger history and culture of India has you exhausted and confused?
Medical Massage is aimed at restoring function and reducing pain after a catastrophic collision injury.
These sessions consist of scar tissue release, neuromuscular re-education, myofascial release for conditions such as brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple fractures, or neurological disorders.
A prescription for massage is required from your doctor.
You must call us first to book, to see if your insurance will cover your sessions.
Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) created by Aaron Mattes, is a powerfully precise stretching technique that targets specific muscle groups, and parts of the muscle.
You can expect gentle, slow, and nurturing postures and flowing sequences that nourish the womb (or womb-space) and heart.
We will begin with brief check-ins and end with simple English or Sanskrit songs.
A perfect class for considerations specific to the female body or pelvis such as preconception and postpartum, peri-menopause, or simply surrounding a woman's cycle of bleeding.
In each practice, special attention will be given to the pelvic floor, core, and heart center through movement, stillness, breathing, and song.
