Hot Stone Massage involves hot and smooth basalt stones in a Swedish style massage.
The stones are heated to one hundred forty degrees in hot water and are used as an extension of the therapist's hands.
The heat penetrates deeper than the pressure and the stones are used in long smooth strokes on the body.
An authentic hot stone massage is not simply the "placing" of heated stones lightly upon the surface of the skin, but rather the stones are used as tools to deliver effective massage at a pressure level comfortable to the client.
