I feel honored to be supporting families as they grow and love learning about their unique needs and desires to help make their birth experience the best possible for them. I am also a Certified Massage Therapist with a focus in prenatal and relaxation massage.

Services
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.
I started my path as a birth doula after deciding to pursue my future in the natural health field, with plans to eventually become a midwife.
As I was looking into the birthing world, I felt the role of a doula was perfect for me as I continue to further my knowledge and experience around childbirth.
I have babysat little ones since I was 12 years old and have always loved babies, bellies, and the amazing ability of the female body to transformation for the birth of her child.
After witnessing my best friends beautiful birth when I was only 17, I was amazed and the birthing world has continued to inspire me since.
My services typically include 2-3 meetings before your labor, on-call care for your labor, as well as 1-2 meeting after you and your new family have gotten settled in at home.
The meetings before labor are for us to get to know each other and gain comfort in supporting your ideas pertaining to the birth of your child.
We will go over many elements such as; your birth plan, some comfort techniques, the importance of breathing, basic birth education, ways to empower your mind and body, possible positions, pain management techniques, possible medical situations as well as other services including massage, placenta encapsulation, child birth education classes, or anything else you have questions about.
As a first-time mom-to-be, I knew I wanted a doula during my delivery.
My husband and I attended birthing classes, but we were aware that everything we had learned would go out the window once the contractions started.
All the doulas I interviewed were great, but I didn't feel 110% connection with any of them.
On a whim, I checked out Doula Match and saw Andrea's profile.
I felt a connection with her immediately.
When I met her in person, I knew she was the one.
She was knowledgeable, friendly, reassuring and extremely supportive.
ICEA and the ICEA Approved Trainer (IAT) agree that the birth of a baby represents the birth of a family.
We believe that family-centered maternity care is based on the concept of a "Circle of Care" which centers on the pregnant woman, but also includes her family, healthcare providers, and community resources.
Freedom to make decisions based on knowledge of alternatives is fundamental to a woman's autonomy and should be respected by all in her circle of care.
We believe that childbirth is a process that can safely take place in hospitals, birth centers, and homes.
