I help people recover faster from aches and pains, injuries and surgeries so they can get back to work and the things they love to do in life. I graduated with honors from the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in 2006. Over the years, I've developed a fascination with the effects of scar tissue and its lingering traces on the whole body. I'm a bodyworker with a strong intuitive sense, a "detective" style, guided by my desire to help people feel better.

I've learned that the root of the problem is rarely the one spot where we feel pain. A scar is influenced by tension in the body. Where the pain is felt may be the consequences of a problem coming from a distant place in the body. This is why I take a whole body approach integrating a variety of hands-on styles of bodywork for lasting relief. She was able to relieve me from months of nerve pain following a cancer surgery in only two sessions.

Additionally, she took the time to instruct me in doing follow-up therapy should it be necessary.

Over the years, I have learned that the root of the problem is rarely the one spot where we feel pain.
It's never just one spot.
In my experience, standard deep tissue massage is at times not enough to create sufficient relief.
I take a whole body approach integrating a variety of hands-on styles of bodywork for lasting relief.
My deep curiosity for the body has led me to many continuing education courses from Myofascial Release, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, to Scar Tissue Therapy, Visceral Manipulation and human dissection labs.
Massage Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage and Myofascial Release focused on reduction of pain, stiffness and swelling from surgeries, injuries and chronic day-to-day pain.
Low back, hip, shoulder, neck, headaches, TMJ, and other pain issues are common reasons people seek medical massage.
Sessions are individualized to meet the client's specific needs.
Because my work is focused on pain relief and restoring range of motion, I accept Worker's Comp referrals.
Medical Massage sessions include therapeutic massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release and manual lymphatic drainage techniques.
The term "medical massage" refers to an outcome-based technique used to target specific health problems typically related to pain relief, reduction of stiffness and swelling from surgeries, injuries and other medical conditions.
You should be aware that this type of massage is not similar to the traditional types provided at spas.
Sessions with Michelle Licha-Oros Medical Massage & Lymphatic Drainage Therapy are individualized and tailored to meet the client's specific needs and/or doctor's referral.
Swelling is normal after surgery or injury but persistent swelling is not.
When tissues are damaged from tissue trauma, the lymphatic system works overtime to clear the area of cellular waste and defend the body from infection.
This inflammation is a normal part of healing.
It's the body's natural response to an injury.
Lymphatic vessels are located in the layer right below the skin and above the muscle bed.
These vessels drain areas of swelling and they act like sewer pipes under the skin.
When there's prolonged or excessive swelling, the fluid pulls on the tissues and the tension and irritation drives more scar tissue formation.
Breast Cancer Mastectomy Massage Therapy is aimed at helping women make significant gains in recovery after breast cancer treatment.
Cancer treatment can be overwhelming, invasive, and brutal.
It may leave you uneasy about your body image and whether you'll ever return to the life and activities you love.
But skilled, attentive touch can help piece your body together again and restore hope in the healing process.
The earlier you get help, the more your long-term physical and emotional recovery will benefit.
