Massage isn't a luxury in my opinion. It's a necessary service that many people do without because they think it's not in their budget or it won't help. Try POM and you'll see. This is the most common type of massage therapy in the United States, it is the modality most commonly associated with massage therapy. We use long smooth strokes, kneading and circular movements and superficial layers of muscle using massage lotions, creams or oils.

Swedish massage therapy can be very gentle and relaxing. For a first timer this is the massage to try. Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. We use slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems or recovery from injury.

People sometimes feel sore for one or two days after deep tissue massage, but the results speak for themselves. Trigger point work targets muscle groups that refer pain to other parts of the body as well as at the source.
